Golf Ranch

I need some advice, can someone please help me…?

I have an 17 year old OTTB mare and when I got her she was under weight and so on. I just recently moved her because after months of trying to get her to gain weight, the ranch owner was not feeding her correctly. When I got her to her new place, I went to unload her and she spooked getting out of the trailer and hit her knee. She has some swelling just under the size of a golf ball. She is not showing any signs of pain or lameness. What can I put on it to help reduce some of the swelling? What else can I do for it… If you can please give me names of the items and where I can find it. Thanks

cold hosing it daily should help the swelling go down and they also make boots that you can put ice in and ice her knee. also make sure she’s getting adequate turn out, it might be better to keep her in a smaller paddock if possible so she can’t run around but is still able to walk around so the swelling doesn’t continue or get any worse. however if it doesn’t go away in a few days or you notice that it is getting worse then definitely have the vet out asap
