Hastings Ranch Pasadena
does anyone fucking know how late at night you can view the Hastings Ranch (Pasadena) christmas lights…?
i have been online wasting the last 2 hours looking for the viewing hours…are they on til midnight??? til 9 pm???? till10 pm????someone PLEASE TELL ME!
Hastings Ranch is a neighborhood, I don’t think there are posted hours, I haven’t seen any in the local paper. I’m not sure what time they shut off the lights, but I think I remember dropping my son off at a friend’s house there and picking him up at almost midnight and the lights were still on. I wouldn’t be cruising around there past midnight. In Pasadena it seems like everything closes down at about 9pm, so being in someone’s neighborhood at midnight is way late enough.
Places to see lights:
For Sierra Madre (next to Pasadena), go to the Upper Hastings Ranch homes (see below, many homes with lights!) and then head east on Sierra Madre Bl past Michillinda (La Salle Catholic school is on the South West corner). That’s the border of Sierra Madre, drive around Sierra Madre (tiny town) to find lighted homes.
Mid-December through January 1:
Christmas Tree Lane, Altadena
Three blocks of trees decorated with colored lights. From downtown Pasadena, drive north on Lake Avenue, turn left on Woodbury and right on Santa Rosa to Altadena Drive. http://www.christmastreelane.net/
The Balian House (Balian Ice Cream), Altadena
This display includes 10,000 colored lights and numerous holiday depictions all over the front and side lawns of the 3 1/2 acre property. To reach the Balian house from Christmas Tree Lane, turn right on Altadena Drive and travel to Allen Avenue. Make a right turn on Allen and a left on Mendocino.
Upper Hastings Ranch, Pasadena
Each block of the area competes, creating displays with a common theme. Upper Hastings Ranch is bordered by Michillinda Avenue to the East, Sierra Madre Blvd. to the South and Riveria Drive to the West. From the 210 Freeway, take Michillinda Blvd. North to the lights.
St. Albans Road, San Marino
From Upper Hastings Ranch, take Michillinda South to Huntington drive and continue to St. Albans Road, turn right.
Also, you might want to check out the DWP’s Light Festival. Very cool. You’ll have to wait in line in your car or walk through, but it’s worth it.
