Lincoln Bow Ranch

Lincoln was the third city of the realm in prosperity and importance in the Norman period. Fortunately, this year the City Council have failed to find sufficient resources to maintain the tourist information office next to the Castle open. Visitors can learn about the attractions that Lincoln has to offer.
The collection runs a series of presentations and topics throughout the year.

The Cathedral
On the west facade of the fine Church of Lincoln Cathedral, past the competition of the old buildings outside the castle walls, in view of its historical towers rise is impressive. This is the cathedral that John Ruskin called "the most valuable piece of architecture in the British Isles," in this Ruskin was right, its beauty is simply magical and its towers can be seen from all around the city.
The Romanesque cathedral was started in 1072, and pieces of this period can be seen in the west end of the building, where three portals are developed crowned by a frieze carved exquisite 1145. Above all, the cathedral is Gothic, and much of the church dates after an earthquake in 1185. Has been little altered since this time.
The choir was rebuilt in 1192, this was followed by the reconstruction of the western part of the church. The choir of Angels, named for its magnificent decor and large expanses of stained glass was added between 1256-80. Thereafter became only minor changes.
