You could use the room for a cheap inflatable pool mattress lightweight backpack?

I'm going to Philmont next summer. (Scout ranch in New Mexico) Any person who was last summer has thermerest these sleeping pills. They were very expensive, always had to fly, and not much support for the back. I have a pool hall I bought at Wal-Mart for $ 1.85, I love the way it feels and I've had great nights of sleep in it. Also, I've had for almost a year and is supported very well and has not appeared yet. Could I use this as a replacement for $ 50 mats sold at Rei?
