Planning a visit to the Grand Canyon – Bright Angel and Phantom Ranch?

I am planning a visit to the Grand Canyon in August. I already have a permit to camp at the Bright Angel Campground. They say that it is reccomended to get to the campground around 10AM because of the heat. So I need to find things to do there for the whole day. It will just be my brother and I. If you have been there before, could you just let me know what you did there or what there is to do?

Hike extremely early!!! And make sure to stay hydrated. As far as things to do at Phantom Ranch…ask the employees at Phantom Ranch that work the canteen they will have some very good suggestions…one will most likely be a hike to Phantom Creek, it is not that long of a hike. If you are up for a day hike when you get to the bottom go to Ribbon Falls…it’s beautiful…12 mile round trip ((also have to do this early because of the black rocks called the ‘box’ which radiates the heat)), visit the colorado river and hang out on Boat Beach.
