Ranch Style Home – The name of it?
I have to identify the style of my house, so you can search for remodeling ideas. My house is a ranch from front to back 32 "x 62". With the door to enter directly into the room., Leading to the kitchen in the middle and family room in the rear. What style is this mess? It has a roof truss, we can raise? I have sometimes heard it called a "railroad car" ranch, but searches not seem to make any images. Jim
I'm not 100% sure this is correct, but your home sounds a bit like what was called a "shot" style house. Although yours sounds bigger, the shotgun house was rectangular in shape and usually one room wide and at least 2 rooms without hallways deep leading from one room to another. The front door and back door, where usually in a direct line. Most in a story, though there are 2 story shotgun houses. There are lots of examples online. Search term: shotgun house Are you looking to increase the ceiling for what reason? If you are adding another household level will depend on the Homes Foundation.
