Initially a Spanish explorer visited Oklahoma in 1541 in quest of Gold. Many other Europeans followed leading to many wars and treaties. Tribes had to give up their lands with the expansion of the western world.

After the civil war, Oklahoma became a land of the cattle. The government created six lands holdings to each person settled in the state from 1889 to 1895. It initiated many Europeans from Poland, Germany, Ireland and Slavic nations to stake their claims.

Many communities were settled in some cities and on 16 November 1907 it became the 46th state of US. It soon progressed rapidly due to discovery of Oil. People came from everywhere in the world to strike it rich resulting in its development.

A restored military post from 1824 to 1845, Fort Gibson Historic Site tells its visitors almost everything about the state’s history, its wars and development from the earlier times to present. It’s located near Fort Gibson U.S. National Cemetery.

Historic structures of civil war (from 1820 to 1840) used by Confederates are stored at Fort Gibson Historic Site. The artifacts preserved educate the public, visiting this site. Historic artifacts of civil war are preserved and displayed at Fort Washita Historic Site, for the visitors. Structures used for protection from the enemy from 1868 to 1894 are displayed at Fort Supply Historic Site. Visitors can have a tour of an ancient battlefield at Battle of Honey Springs Historic Site. It has been erected in memory of soldiers who won the battle of Honey Springs on 18 July 1863.

State’s largest military historical museum is 45th Infantry Division Museum, depicting Hitler’s apartment when he was captured by 45th Division troops. The largest collection of military’s original arsenal, uniforms, military vehicles, aircrafts and artillery are exhibited here.

Hundreds of “Willie and Joe” cartoons along with different arsenal from World War II, Korean Era and Desert Strom artifacts are also displayed. Want to have a close look at Clydesdales then come to Express Ranches and the Clydesdale Hitch Team, where these horses have been brought in 1870. This breed is very impressively refined and shinny. Originally, this breed belongs to Scotland.

This place attracts many tourists who come to know everything about these horses. Future plans are there to start a stage-coach tour through this ranch and nearby historical places. Situated in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City, International Gymnastics Hall of Fame is worth a visit. It exhibits hundreds of photographs, Olympic medals, videos, uniforms and many things related to Gymnastics since 1932 to present.
