We bought stock trailer with expired tags in Texas, how do we register it in New Mexico?

Hi, we purchased a stock trailer (no title, was a shop trailer) in Texas that wasn’t tagged (tags were expired), it was only used on ranch so they did not need to tag it. We brought to New Mexico with bill of sale and they are requiring us to show old registration froms from Texas even though they are expired. Texas, however, cannot release expired tag registrations. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do or who to contact regarding this practical problem? Thanks!!!!

Contact the Texas DMV dept and offer to pay for the back expired tags and send the papers to you. It would then be legal in New Mexico.
